Phone overview
Samsung announced its latest tablet Galaxy Tab S7 Plus smartphone. It comes with 45W fast-charging for the 7040 mAh battery, as well as an aggressive price tag for its midrange specs and features. It arrives in three colors – Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze, and Mystic Silver. There are two price tags for Galaxy Tab S7 Plus in Kenya as well for the different memory variants.
Design
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus has a brushed aluminum antibody and looks quite sleek. It’s pretty sizable built on a 12.4-inch screen. This tablet is quite thin (253.8 x 165.3 x 6.3 mm) and relatively light for its size (500 g). Holding it with one hand can get tiring after a while, but with two hands it is quite comfortable. All color versions of this tablet attract plenty of fingerprints. So be sure to slap on a case. And they are Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze, Mystic Silver, and Phantom Navy.
Display
The tab S7 Plus will happily stream HD video from all popular services. Using the tablet and bright conditions is no problem either. Since the screen is AMOLED, it supports an under-display fingerprint reader. The content looks good and the sound on this tablet is amazing too. Thanks for its quad stereo speaker setup tuned by AKG and have Dolby Atmos support. There is no 3.5-millimeter jack on this device though. For traditional headphones, you’ll need to use a USB-C adapter or connect USBC headphones.
The screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus itself is AMOLED with 2800 by 1752 resolution. This gives you a total of 266 PPI. One of the sharpest 10 inch plus tablet screens out there. Plus, the display has a 120 Hz refresh rate. his screen looks great. Enabling the high refresh rate doesn’t require you to change the resolution and it makes supported content and UI elements appear much smoother. Without forgetting those deep AMOLED blacks here and vivid colors.
Cameras
As far as cameras go, there aren’t any major changes this year. The setup is the same as the Galaxy Tab S6. There’s a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera. In good lighting, this phone takes nice 13 megapixel images. There’s very good resolve detail, even in complex areas the colors are accurate and you have low noise. The 5 megapixel shots from the ultrawide camera are okay. The results of its 8 MP, f/2.0, 26mm (wide) are usable. They come out pretty nice. You get photos with enough detail and punchy colors.
S-Pen
Despite Galaxy Tab S7 Plus’s larger size, it has the same active S-Pen you will find on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. It has ultra-low 9-millisecond latency. And it offers the same features here. Taking notes is super easy. And the low latency coupled with a high refresh rate of the screen makes the writing sensation feel really authentic. The notes app can convert whatever you’ve written into the text. You can then export this text as a file, like a PDF or a word document. Plus, all of the notes you take can be synced via the Samsung cloud.
This responsive stylus works great for drawing too. Screen translate is yet another useful feature of this S-Pen. There are also a variety of air actions, which are just your controls for the UI or supported apps. The Spen runs on a battery and recharges wirelessly.
Small laptop
If you turn on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus, you get something a bit different from a smartphone UI. This is more like what you’d find on a PC. Complete with stacking windows for each open app. Furthermore, Samsung offers a keyboard, which you can attach to the tablet (sold separately). But you can also connect your own wireless keyboard and mouse. With this setup, what you will have before you is a substitute for a small laptop.
Platform
Now, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus’s interface is of a smartphone. It is Samsung’s one UI 2.5 based on Android 10. This is outside the box. But upon upgrading this one will run Android 12, One UI 4. You get a standard notification shade as well as a system-wide dark mode. Typical for Android! You can find all of your apps within an app drawer and you even get Samsung’s edge panels handy for storing shortcuts. It’s worth noting that you can use the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus in portrait or landscape orientation. Switch between the two is seamless depending on the situation. Microsoft products are well integrated here, you get plenty of apps pre-installed including the Microsoft office suites and, and OneDrive.
Performance
Luckily Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus has the best Android has to offer, a Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G+ (7 nm+) chipset. This provides you with excellent sustained performance, even for heavy tasks like gaming. You also get the option for 5G connectivity. This tablet packs a Li-Po 10,090 mAh, non-removable battery. This translates to almost eight hours of web browsing screen on time or over 12 hours of video playback. Pretty impressive. Charging is a different story though. There’s support for 45W fast charging, but that adapter is sold separately. What you get in the box is a relatively tiny 15 Watts charger.
